YVONNE SKARGON

B. 1931

EDUCATION: Colchester School of Art; The Royal College of Art, London

Yvonne Skargon is an illustrator whose watercolours, drawings and wood engravings, often on botanical and culinary themes, have been commissioned by many leading book, magazine and journal publishers.

She studied wood engraving with Blair Hughes-Stanton and John O'Connor and taught wood engraving herself at the Royal College.

Two books about her cats, The Importance of being Oscar (1988) and Lily and Hodge and Dr. Johnson (1991) became best sellers, and have recently been re-issued by The Primrose Hill Academy in a limited edition printed from the wood.

Her other books include A Garden of my Own (1996) and a Concatenation (1999) and she is the subject of Yvonne Skargon's Picture Book (Quince Tree Press 1999).

In 1991 she designed and engraved the Royal Mail commemorative issue of Roses postage stamps.
